Ruben “LIL PEEWEE” Garcia, long time retired resident of Inverness, died on 8-11-2020 @ 10:25AM, at Vitas Hospice in Lecanto, Florida, at the age of 85. He passed being surrounded by his “Son” Christopher M. Gougeon, “Future Daughter-in-Law” Kristle D. De Jesus, and “Close Family Friend” Kathy Teepell.
Ruben was born on December 8th, in Ponce, PR, to Romona Rodriguez, “Mother” & Adolfo Garcia, “Father”, where he was raised in Bronx, NY. an became a world class bodybuilder & truck driver. He later moved to Miami, Florida, after marrying his “SWEETHEART” Beverly A. Garcia, where he was a loving husband and father, raising and providing for both Beverly & his son, Christopher, as only he knew how too. He worked for Miami-Dade County in the “Emergency Operations Center”, and was a wonderful provider, protector, and FAMILY MAN, until his retirement in 2001, when both he & Beverly moved to Inverness… He is predeceased by Beverly A. Garcia, having passed back in 2016, and survived by his son, Christopher…
He was known for his infectious loving smile, being an exceedingly kind and gentle man, who loved listening to his country music, especially Willie Nelson, along with old timers like Frank Sinatra, and his Salsa & Merengue, he truly LOVED his family wholeheartedly, although he was stubborn at times, but then again what Hispanic is not… He did everything he could to not only make everyone else around him better, along with providing an exceptionally wonderful life to his SWEETHEART & SON… He would never let anything waver his Faith & Spirituality in The Lord God, and he would cater to the needs of others, before his own! He loved playing his guitar, and singing, and I remember my mother saying, that is exactly what caught her eye, and although she could understand what it was he was singing, because it was in Spanish, she was smitten over this stocky, salt & pepper guitar playing man with a voice of an ANGEL, that made her knees weak… He will forever be deeply missed, but never ever forgotten, by friends, family & everyone whomever met or knew him, because he was such a kind, gentle man, and spirit…
I would like to thank all, Doctors, Nurses, Aides, especially Dr. Navarro, Dr. Amwar Dr. Peter Kim, Dr. Rama Krishna, who were beyond exceptional with every procedure and office visit and the care they each provided for my Father… Dr. Kim, prayed with my father before each of the surgical procedures, and I know they did all they could do medically, their best efforts were not unnoticed and are greatly appreciated…
A Memorial Service / Celebration of Life is scheduled to be held at 12PM, August 29th, at Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, Florida
