Felicidad Rivera

Felicidad Rivera, age 83, of Beverly Hills, Florida passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023. Felicidad was born in Pasig, Manila, Philippines, along with her five siblings, to Restituto and Felicidad Angeles Balido.

Fely graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Medical School Class of 1962, where she also met her husband, Julius. She and Julius were married in New York in 1965. She interned and completed her anesthesiology residency in New York. She practiced anesthesiology in Cleveland, Ohio before coming to Michigan City, Indiana in the early 70's. Dr. Rivera had a fulfilling career there. She was a member of the Indiana Philippine Medical Association and did many medical missions and world travel class reunions with her late husband, Julius and their Medical School classmates. She served as cantor and Eucharistic minister at Queen of All Saints. Alway hard working, she also enjoyed traveling with her kids and the small close-knit Filipino community there. Fely delighted in tending to her roses and flower gardens, travel, singing, theater and ballroom and salsa dancing.

After Julius retired life continued to Beverly Hills, Florida. Before her memory faded to Alzheimer's disease, Fely was an active member in the larger local Filipino community, as well as supporter of the Our Lady of Grace Church's charismatic community.

Felicidad is survived by her son, Joel Rivera, her daughter, Julie (John) Sawyer, and her grandchildren Josette "Josie" and Jack Sawyer. Felicidad was preceded in death by her husband, Julius on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Restituto G. and Felicidad Balido, and also her five siblings: Edmundo Balido, Tito Narding (Leonardoz), Tito Anie (Anastacio), Tito Loling (Lolita) and Pilar.

A visitation for Felicidad will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home with Crematory, 5955 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL 34465. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 26, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church, 6 Roosevelt Blvd, Beverly Hills, FL 34465. A committal service will occur Monday, June 26, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 12:45 PM at Fero Memorial Gardens, 5891 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL 34465.
