Charlotte Farrar Mahan passed away suddenly on Easter morning, April 4, 2021. She was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee on April 6, 1945. She graduated from Shelbyville High School, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Masters in Speech, Hearing, and Audiology. She dedicated her vocational life to teaching holding positions at the University of Tennessee, Knox County Schools, Hamilton County Schools, Loudon City Schools.
She is preceded in death by her parents Winifred and Elizabeth. She is survived by her husband of 29 years Kevin Mahan, and a daughter Stephanie Leigh Yester, and first cousins Sue Farrar and Chip Morris.
Charlotte was a devout member of Hernando United Methodist Church in Beverly Hills, Florida.
Her passion was competition at many levels including sports car racing, running, swimming, and biking. The highlights of Charlotte’s competitive career:
* completion of the Chattanooga Ironman Triathlon, still the only female 70+ to accomplish and qualify for the Kona World Championships
* being a two time Xterra World Champion in Offroad Triathlon held in Maui, HI
* All American Triathlon status in both Road and Off-Road disciplines
