Walter "Walt" Carroll Hawkins Sr.

Walter C. Hawkins Sr. went to his reward with our heavenly father on Sept. 14, 2018. Walter was born on August 4th, 1939 in Sayre, Ok. Walter is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years. Carol Hawkins, parents Mack and Clovis Hawkins, brothers Bennie Ray, Wesley Hawkins and his wife Dorise, V.R. (Red) Hawkins and his wife Mary, He is survived by his Sisters Elsie Henley and Gloria Evans, son Walter C. Hawkins Jr. and daughter Lauren, daughter Tina Milam and husband Rick, son Jim Carroll and wife Terry, son Tony Carroll, 6 granddaughters Mindy, Tammie, Nicole, Erin, Shannon and Lauren. 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In school he played baseball and basketball. He attended Bethany Nazarene College. In 1959 he married Carola Pickney and they had one son, Walter C. Hawkins Jr. Walter then took a job with Mistletoe Express. Then went to work for Conway Southwest Trucking where he retired in 2001. In 1976 he married Carol Carroll. They lived a happy life together for 34 years until her passing in 2011. He enjoyed fishing, sports, family, camping and playing bluegrass music. Walt was very well known in the bluegrass community and well respected as an excellent guitar player for over fifty plus years. Walter had an ornery and fun loving personality. He had a huge heart full of love for his fellow man. He was always there for his friends and family. He will live in the hearts of all that knew him and he will be missed greatly.
