Walter Dean Graham

Dean was born on August 21, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late William Henry and Lenora Graham. He was the 3rd of 4 children - Dolores Armstrong of Warr Acres, Glen Graham of OKC, and Bev Wood of Warr Acres.

Dean spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He was an airman in the 23rd Patrol Squadron earning commendations and his airman’s wings. He graduated from Central State University with a B.S. in Physics and Math and continued studies at OU in Nuclear Physics.

He worked for Kerr McGee Oil for over 18 years, and then was employed at Tinker AFB until retirement in 2008. He also enjoyed managing his brother-in-law’s law office and working for Neighbors Coffee.

His favorite hobbies included woodworking, gardening, fixing anything broken, and fundraising for Shriner’s hospitals.

Dean was a devoted member of the Britton Masonic Lodge for over 15 years. He served as Most Worshipful Master and obtained his 32nd degree in 1999. Dean was also very active as a Shriner, participating in several units and sponsoring children in the Shrine Hospitals.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sherill; his daughter and son-in-law, Crista and Charles McCann of Stillwater, OK; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Jenny Graham of Boston, MA; grandchildren Megan and Cassidy McCann and Lila and Lucas Graham.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 1:00 pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany, graveside service following in Dale, OK. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 19th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be sent to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
