Virginia L. Murphy

Virginia Fallaschek Murphy, 92, passed away on August 31, 2023 in Oklahoma City. Virginia was born on June 5, 1931 to Richard and Virginia Fallaschek. Virginia graduated from John Carroll High School. She married Jim Murphy on June 24, 1950 and together they raised six children. Virginia and Jim were founding members of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and were very active in the parish. She was awarded the Woman of Achievement Award in 1970. Virginia and Jim were active in the Christian Family Movement and participated actively in the civil rights movement, sponsored a Cuban refugee family and delivering mobile meals. Virginia hosted many gatherings for family and friends and was an amazing hostess. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed traveling. Jim and Virginia were soulmates in their fifty-nine years of marriage. They enjoyed their happy hours and playing games. Virginia had a smile that would light up a room. She enjoyed the last four years as a resident of the Saint Ann Retirement Center. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, sons, Steve and Tom, sister, Helen Meyer and brother, Paul Fallaschek. Virginia is survived by 3 sons, Mike and wife, Paula, Rick and wife, Carol, John and wife, Barbara, daughter, Katie Harney and husband, Jay, and 2 daughters-in-law Anne Murphy and Pam Murphy, her sisters, Marion Reddick and Ann Gilmore and her brother-in-law, Ed Meyer. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, who were the delight of her life.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 1pm to 8:00pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. Family will receive guests from 4pm to 6pm.

A Mass of Christian burial will occur Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 5024 N Grove, Warr Acres, OK 73122 with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
