Merle Dean McGuire Sr.

Merle D. McGuire, Sr. 82, born on July 1,1930 in Snowmac, OK to his parents Charles Thomas “Mickey” McGuire and Winifred Thomas McGuire, was called home 11/6/2012 to be with them again. And survived by his brother Ronald Thomas McGuire, Ron’s wife Mary Keltner McGuire, and Merle’s sister Delores McGuire Steudeman all of Ardmore, OK. Merle is survived by his loving wife, Verla Savage McGuire, who enjoyed 16 wonderful years with him and at his side until they meet again. They followed Christ faithfully and were members of Northwest Baptist Church. In college, Merle played basketball at UCLA under Coach John Wooden, and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He worked and later retired from Halliburton as World Credit Manager while raising a family of 4 sons, Merle Dean Jr., John, Craig, and Kevin with Janet Ruth McGuire Mings, survived by all including 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who loved their granddad. Visitation will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 from 8 am- 8 pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held Sat, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 am at Northwest Baptist Church with interment to follow to Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore, OK.
