Janet Sue Kitchen

Our loving Mother, Nana, and Sister, Janet Sue Kitchen, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She was born July 15, 1947 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Ernest Lasater and Ruby Rae (Todd) Walters. Janet was the oldest of 5 children and helped raise her siblings. Being a caretaker and a peacemaker came very natural to her. Janet raised her daughters alone and worked hard to provide for them. She also took great pride and joy in her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. In her early years, Janet worked for Precision Rubber and Plastics. She began working in the oil industry as a lab technician before retiring from Citgo after 25 years. Janet’s passion was for her family. She also enjoyed golf, casino’s, bowling, and coaching T-ball for her grandchildren. Janet was always fair and always did what she knew was right. Her kindness, her smile, and her love for her family will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Kitchen; brother, Anthony Lasater; sisters, Phylis Davis, Dardnella Clopton; and nephew, Michael Davis. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Mark Minx, Carah and Shawn Blair; grandchildren, Tyler and Cassidy Minx, Cody and Kinsey Blair, Brittany and Mason Feeler, Matt and MaKayla Blair, Chris and Marlena Pointer, Kira and Garrett Owings, Madison and Jonathan Flynn; 11 great grandchildren with one on the way; and brother, Kevin Lasater.

Donations may be made in Janet’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Services will be 2pm Friday at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with interment to follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
