Helen Charlene Dauster

Helen was born October 26, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles Lydell Dauster and Alverta Louise Meyer Dauster. She passed into heaven on December 16, 2024, while living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Helen was saved and baptized in May 1975 while in Dallas, Texas. Officially, her name is Helen, but to her family and close friends, she is known as Charlene. Helen graduated from Breckenridge High School in Breckenridge, Texas, in 1961. After high school, she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on April 30, 1962, and served for three years until April 29, 1965. After basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, Helen completed advanced training at Fort Gordon, Georgia, as a communication center specialist in the Signal Corps. Her first and last duty station was Fort Ritchie, located in Cascade, Maryland, where she served as a cryptographer at Site R, which was the Alternate Joint Communication Center located underground in the Raven Rock Mountain in nearby Pennsylvania. Helen attained the rank of Specialist Four. After being honorably discharged, she worked in the computer field as a keypunch operator. Her final job before retiring to Dodge City, Kansas, was with Harris Health System in Arlington, Texas. In 2017 Helen moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Suzanne. She is survived by her two brothers, Charles Lydell Dauster, Jr. and wife Billie, and Tommy Dauster and wife Peggy; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, acquaintances, and all her dear friends at Danforth.

A private graveside service will be held with military honors followed by burial at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
