Bobby J Sublette

Bobby Joe Sublette of Yukon went to be with his Lord on January 23, 2019. Bob was born in Lindsay, Oklahoma on July 2, 1935, the oldest of six children to Tom and Vivian Sublette. He spent the majority of his childhood in and around Lindsay, eventually graduating from Sayre High School in 1953 where he played football and baseball. He went on to graduate from East Central University in Ada in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in Math and Science Education. Following college, he spent two years in the US Army stationed at Ft. Richardson, Alaska. Afterwards, he went to work in the oil industry, eventually retiring from Gardner Denver in 1998 after 31 years, then immediately began working with his son at Pump and Equipment until his second retirement at the age of 80 in 2015.

Bob was a good-natured and fun-loving family man, always joking around and having something good to say about everyone. He was admired by all, and never passed up an opportunity to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, sharing his enjoyment of sports, hunting, fishing, and playing cards and dominoes. In addition to being an active member of Council Road Baptist Church for over 30 years, he was also an avid supporter of all Oklahoma sports teams and could be found wearing the appropriate team shirt on game day, sometimes changing between games. Bob began coaching baseball in 1970, later adding softball as well, sharing his enthusiasm for the sport for nearly twenty years. During this time, he was a founding member of The America Legion AA Baseball League in 1975 for the state of Oklahoma, serving as the State District Baseball Commissioner for several years. He received the Cooper Industries 1988 Outstanding Community Service Award, and is still fondly remembered by many players today.

Bob is survived by his four children, Karl Rath of Calumet, Ray Rath of Tulsa, Lynn Swanda and her husband, Allen, of Yukon, and Stacey Selby and her husband, Scott, also of Yukon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Ray & Dustin Tate, Nic, James & Josh Swanda, Kari Phillips & Elise Briggs, Spencer, Sydney & Seth Selby, twelve great-grandchildren, two brothers, Tom Sublette of Edmond and Jerry Sublette of Lindsay, and one sister, Bonnie Bridwell also of Lindsay. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Beverly Whitehead of 6 years, and Lorene Braisher of 47 years and two sisters Gloria and Betty Sue Sublette.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Council Road Baptist Church, 2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, Oklahoma followed by interment in the Yukon Cemetery.
