Bill Starr passed away on January 9, 2022, at his home in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born March 6, 1922, in Westville, OK, to Samuel and Nellie (Whitmire) Starr. Bill grew up in Stilwell, OK and moved to Jay, OK his senior year where he graduated from Jay High School. He then attended Bacone College, and Oklahoma A&M and received his BS in Business from Oklahoma City University. While at Oklahoma A&M, he proudly joined the United States Army where he was trained to be a bombardier. He served in World War II and flew the maximum number of missions allowed over Germany before he returned home. Once home, Bill married Juanice Foreman in 1944. They had two children, Richard Wayne Starr and Mary Dawn Starr (Crossley). Juanice passed away in 1990. Bill married Donna Adams in 1991 and they lived in Oklahoma City until his death. Bill was an Investment Broker with several Oklahoma City firms and eventually retired from Stifel Nicolaus Investments. He had many clients, all of which called him Jim. This was due to his first employer at R.J. Edwards who called him Jim, and it stuck throughout his professional life. Bill was a great dad, and played in recreational leagues and church teams while the kids were young and then became an avid fan of his children’s sports teams. He also played golf into his 80’s. He always loved his alma-mater, OSU, and attended and watched on TV many games. He encouraged his children and led by example. His humor was a key component of his personality and built great friendships. Bill is survived by his wife Donna and his sister Sammie Jo Clemons both of Oklahoma City, his son, Richard and wife Sandra Starr of Houston, TX, daughter Mary and husband, Steve Crossley of Mustang, ,OK 5 grandchildren, Taylor and husband Brad Fjeldheim, Ashley and husband John Colaw, Wayne Henry “Hank” Starr, Dr. Steven Crossley and wife Lindsay and Dr. Joshua Crossley and wife Emily , 10 great grandchildren, Emmitt, Ella, Quinn, John Arthur, William, Lauren, Elizabeth, Bennett and Katherine and Lincoln. Bill is also survived by Donna’s children Ricky Adams and wife Michelle, Ester and husband George Evans, grandchildren, Shirley Skinner, Sheryl and husband Scott Butler, Christina and husband Caleb Finnell and great grandchildren, Jace, Brooklyn, Kaizley, Shane, Aaron, and Stephane. Bill was known as Poppy to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a guide and source of great fun and laughter. HE WILL BE MISSED!
A graveside services for Billy will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Little Cemetery, 11522 N HIghway 99, Seminole, OK 74868.
