Dora M. Provencher, age 85, a former longtime resident of Berlin, NH died Saturday Morning, May 8, 2010 following a short illness. She had resided at the home of her daughter in Vernon, CT for the past two years.
Born on April 6, 1925 in Wallagrass, Maine, she was the daughter of John D. and Amanda (Belanger) Charette.
On August 4th, 1951 she married Oscar Provencher at St. Josephs Parish. Oscar died on June 12, 1997.
In earlier years, she was employed in the towel room at Brown Paper Company in Berlin.
She was a member of the Berlin VFW Post # 2520 Ladies Auxiliary. As a past president she was involved in many volunteer activities in the Berlin area. She also enjoyed spending time with her family as well as her friends at the Holiday Center. She was a communicant of Guardian Angel Parish and St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.
Dora is survived by two sons: Raymond Provencher of Berlin, NH and David Provencher and his wife Marie of Vernon, CT, and three daughters: Rose-marie Theg and her husband Scott of New Boston, NH, Annette Letellier and her husband Rene of Gorham, NH, and Lucille Filteau and her husband Edward of Vernon, CT, 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by her four sisters: Aurore Dubay, Rena Howard, Mary Jane Berry, and Geraldine Guay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
