Elizabeth (Liz/Betty) Louise Nicholson received her heavenly wings on October 30, 2022. She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on April 25, 1926, to James E and Cordilia Anthis. She was 96 years old at the time of her passing. Liz resided at Primrose Assisted Living in Rogers, AR.
Elizabeth graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas. After graduation, she went to the University of Houston to pursue a degree in Chemistry. Later on, Liz went to work at Southwestern Bell. She was a true trailblazer as she was one of the first women to take a “man’s job” with the company which required climbing a ladder and soldering wires in the office to connect phones to homes. She was a pioneer among women and a member of Unity Church of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Liz is preceded in death by her husbands, James S. Nicholson, Sr. (divorced) and Jesse Layton Boone.
Liz is survived by her adoring daughter, Patricia Ann Nicholson Bailey (Frank) of Bentonville; son, James S. Nicholson, Jr. (Linda) of Choctaw, Oklahoma as well as her three grandchildren, Scott Nicholson (Paula), Laurie Nicholson, and Kristi Nicholson (Zack Newbrey). Liz was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her 4 loving caretakers who were like family, Teresa (Queenie) Anderson, Lacey West, Cassie Gonzalez, Annette Harmon, and too many wonderful nurses, friends, and other caregivers to mention. Liz loved Emery West like a great-grandchild, but the special love of her life was her beautiful Tuxedo cat, Lucky.
We will miss this sparkling, strong, independent woman who always dressed to the nines and wore a bright smile on her face.
She may be gone but she will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Callison-Lough Funeral Home, 605 W Central Ave, Bentonville, Arkansas.
