Vanessa was born in Willmar, Minnesota on March 4, 1944. Her parents later moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Lillis High School and enjoyed being a majorette. At age 18 she married Daniel Brady and they had two children, James and Lisa. After five years they divorced and she became a single mother. Later she had another son, Steven Coakley.
Vanessa was a fun mom who loved to laugh. She had lots of friends and enjoyed being social. Venessa dedicated her life to her family. She also helped raise three other children for many years, Sheri, Talica and Robert Scrivener.
She was very involved in the Belton Jaycees and was later appointed President of the Women's Chapter for a term.
Vanessa loved adventure and travel. She enjoyed going on a cruise, zipline, and a hot air balloon ride. She loved the peace of the ocean and being near and in the water.
Vanessa's career included working at Lake City Ammunition, Western Electric, and then 25 years as a custodian at Peterson manufacturing. She had recently retired and was looking forward to more adventure.
Vanessa was always loving and caring. She was easy to talk to and a sincere listener. We are blessed and honored to have had an amazing, joyful and loving friend, mother, and grandmother.
Vanessa is preceded in death by her parents Olga Andrews and Jerry Dunn and her brother Bill Dunn. She is survived by her son James Brady; daughter Lisa Clark; son Steven Coakley; as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleygeorgebelton.com for the Coakley family.
