Monica Rae Rice

Monica Rae Bernal was born to Tomas Quinonez Bernal and Ruth Ann Diaz January 7th, 1969 at Santa Rosa Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. Growing up with three brothers and one sister, she learned early on that she would one day want a big family of her own. The family she came from would lovingly inspire the family she would create.

At the age of 18 she was convinced by her step-mother, Esther Ibarra Bernal, to take a leap of faith and with her father's permission, she was whisked away by her now husband, Donald Lee Rice SR., and they would remain as one for the next 35 years. They moved to Kansas City, MO and here she would fulfill her joy of caring for the elderly by becoming a CNA.

Always caring and forgiving, her smile and laughter was contagious. Monica was the definition of down to earth. She had the ability to make even the simplest tasks enjoyable and fun. Make no mistakes, she was not accepting any disrespect from anyone! A firm but loving hand was always ready to put you in your place, when needed. Monica had a fire in her that was unmatched. Feisty with a dose of brutal honesty is what made her the wonderful daughter, wife, mama, and friend to anyone who could handle her fire. If you were in trouble or in distress, she could make you laugh and get you out of that mess.

Monica is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Rice and children: Donald Lee Rice Jr, (Lucero), Fantasia Rae Taliloa (Peter Jacob), DeRon Miguel Rice, and Audri Mishele Rice.

A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO 64012. A burial will occur Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Belton Cemetery, 710 S. Scott, Belton, MO 64012. A reception will occur Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO.
