Leo “Cotton” Justin Fryman was born January 9, 1931 to James Charles Everett and Stella Irene (Akers) Fryman in Banner, Missouri; he was one of their five children. Leo married Ethel Maxine Swartz on September 8, 1956. Together they lived in Grandview, Missouri until 2012, then moved to their home in Belton. Over his career Leo worked at his father’s sawmill, the Plaza Theater, Brown Shoe Company and he worked for Fairmont Country Club Dairy for 38 years. Leo and Ethel were long-time members of the Central Freewill Baptist Church on Troost in Kansas City, Missouri. And together they enjoyed many camping trips to Pomona Lake and Truman Lake. Leo was proud of his yard and spent much time working on his lawn. He was also fond of woodworking and watching the Chiefs and Royals play ball.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his son Brian Keith Fryman, and brothers Gary Wayne Fryman and Junior Earston Fryman. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Ethel Maxine Fryman; brothers Golden “Pug” Fryman (Shirley) and Ronald Lee Fryman (Sharon) all of Potosi, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leo truly loved his family and friends and he will be dearly missed by all.
