Elizabeth Traxel, resident of Bellflower, California passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 95 years of age. She was born on March 25, 1928 in Irving, Texas. Her family moved to the Oklahoma panhandle when she was young. They resided there for a few years, but during the “dust bowl” headed to Arkansas where they were told you could live off the land. Their means of transportation was 2 covered wagons. It was a month long trip and with a family of 12 children many of them had to walk including her as she was 10 years old. After several years in Arkansas, the family moved to Bellflower, California where she stayed for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Excelsior High and then married Floyd Traxel in 1946 who also came to California from Arkansas. She is survived by a son, Eugene Traxel of Junction City, Kansas, a daughter, Peggy Gossmer (husband Ron) of San Clemente, California and daughter in law Susan Traxel of Moreno Valley, California. Elizabeth Traxel was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and nine great step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Traxel, son, Steve Traxel, daughter in law, Virginia Traxel and great grandson, Anthony Green. There will be a viewing at Whites Funeral Home in Bellflower, California from 10:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024 and will be followed by a graveside service at Westminster Memorial Park, in Westminster, California. Elizabeth will be laid to eternal rest next to her husband Floyd Traxel.
