On Friday January 21st 2022, she left this life, with her children by her side. We find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, Bob, dancing once again.
Born to parents Douglas and Ilah Miles on April 4,1935; Wilma was the middle child of 5 sisters. Wilma and her sisters grew up in Theresa New York, upstate New York as she would have said. After graduating from Theresa High School in 1952 she worked as a telephone operator. She always had fond memories of those days and the women she lived with and met along the way. Her husband Bob would say this next part was where things got even better. In 1956 she met a handsome Air Force pilot who swept her off her feet. They were engaged soon after, and Wilma moved across the country to Alaska to join Bob where he was stationed in Anchorage. Robert Arnold George and Wilma Jean Miles were married on June 22, 1956. In 1957 they were transferred to Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane Washington. This is where Wilma gave birth to their first daughter, Denise. They would move again to Kelso Washington, where Dorothy and Thomas were born. Finally, they settled in Bellevue in 1961 and welcome their final two children Patricia and James.
Wilma lived for her family and was a wonderful mother. She went on to earn the title of grandmother and was even lucky enough to be a great grandmother. She took pride in that role and loved her great grands to pieces. To her, they were more precious than gold.
Wilma had the best sense of humor and you could often find her laughing and joking about something. She always reminded us to laugh, even at ourselves, because life was too short not to. Wilma loved flowers and gardening and could keep an orchid alive longer than anyone. She and Bob passed that green thumb most of the way down the family tree. She was a talented sketch artist; her favorite subjects being her family, of course. Wilma also enjoyed reading, music, and fashion and was always well put together. She will be remembered for so many things, and missed dearly every day.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (Judy and Timi) and the love of her life, her husband Bob (2012).
She is survived by two sisters (Betty and Jan) her loving children Denise, Dorothy (Dale), Patricia (Dan), Thomas (Gloria) and James, Grandchildren Karla (Robbie), Stacey (Justin) and Cooper, Great Grandchildren River, Bennett, Jameson and TJ.
If you knew her, you were one of the lucky ones. A love so big leaves a hole even bigger in your heart. Grammy, thank you for everything you did for us. We are better because we had you.
Love and hugs forever and ever.
