He was born second youngest of seven children, son of Robert and Ada Mary Saunders, on February 1, 1923 in Tynemouth, England.
When he was six, he moved to Edinburgh, to attend George Heriot’s School for ten years.
He went to Gloucestershire Technical College for Design Engineering. During the Second World War, he was a home guard and worked on warplanes and Concorde at Gloster Aircraft Company for 23 years and at Dowty's for six years.
On August 14, 1954, he married the love of his life, Gladys Cull. They lived in Cheltenham, England and had two children. In 1968, they emigrated to Bellevue, Washington to work for the Boeing company on the SST.
He retired from Boeing Company in 1988 after twenty years. His work included designing for 747 and 767 aeroplanes.
He focused on enjoying his family, home, gardening, dancing, travelling and his involvement in the Britannia Club, ESU, and church.
Steve is survived by his wife (Gladys), children (Beverly Beaulne and Ashley Saunders),nephews (Chris Saunders and Douglas Forrest), grandchildren (Chantal and Alex Beaulne) and son-in-law (Michel Beaulne).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ada Saunders, and his siblings - Leslie, Colin, James, Eric, Elsie and Mary.
He was dedicated to his children and wife.
He will be missed greatly and forever in our hearts.
