Robert Michael MacMillan

Robert “Mac” MacMillan, Age 80, passed away peacefully and with compassion at Overlake Hospital on October 29, 2019. Robert was born in International Falls, Minnesota on March 7, 1939 to Agnes and Hugh MacMillan. At an early age his family moved to Bremerton, WA where he attended Bremerton High until 1957. After three years in the Marines, Mac relocated to San Jose, California where he owned and operated his own mortgage business. Mac then returned to Washington and his final home in Bellevue, WA in 1979. Mac met his wife and best friend, Judith, at a Bellevue Downtown Association dinner in January 1987. They married May 7, 1988 and spent the balance of his life with their blended family.

From 1999 to present Mac owned and operated his own executive recruiting company, BMACLLC, specializing in the construction and development industry. Mac’s greatest joy was finding the perfect fit for the individual and the company. He took pride in providing the highest level of individualized, discretionary service. Every transaction was personally nurtured by him and resulted in placing candidates in some of the highest profile opportunities in the Puget Sound Region.

Before starting his own business, Mac was Senior Vice President at Norris, Beggs & Simpson, Vice President of Development at Cornerstone Columbia Development and Vice President and Regional Manager at Cabot, Cabot & Forbes.

He was a member of many professional organizations including NAIOP, ULI, CREW, and the Belden Club. He was a speaker/mentor at the University of Washington, Michael G. Foster School of Business and the University of Washington Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies.

Mac loved cycling with his friends. He completed the STP several times including the One Day Ride in 1999. He participated in the RAMROD three times, the RSVP twice and the Tri Island several more times. Weekends were often spent riding around the Puget Sound area with friends.

Mac’s other passion was his family. He is survived by his wife, Judith, and his sons, Bob, Ted and Patrick and his daughter, Rickaye. He was, sadly, predeceased by his son, Michael. His extended family included Judith’s daughters Joyce and Bridgette along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

A private family celebration will be held in lieu of a service. This summer we will take Mac’s ashes to Mt. Rainier where he will continue to ride and summit the peak strived to reach in 1989 and 1990.
