With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Patricia “Pat” Hancock, a cherished mom, sister, and aunt, who peacefully departed on March 17, 2024. Known for her love of animals, knack for knitting, and her unwavering devotion to family and friends, Pat leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.
Born on November 28, 1936, in Ellensburg, Washington, Pat's life was a tapestry woven with family and laughter. Growing up as the eldest of five in Cle Elum, surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins, making every day an adventure.
After graduating from Cle Elum High School in 1955, Pat set her sights on becoming a kindergarten teacher, but life had other plans. A summer job at "the telephone company" in Yakima, turned into a 40-year career journey that took her to Seattle, where she made her mark in the engineering department.
Pat's nimble fingers were always at work, knitting and crocheting cozy sweaters, afghans, and slippers that warmed the hearts of those around her. Her community spirit shone bright through her involvement in organizations like the Telephone Pioneers and various volunteer groups at St. Louise. She enjoyed attending family dinners and reunions, football games, professional wrestling, going out for lunch, and watching the Westminster Dog Show. And shopping – especially for shoes.
Among her cherished memories were trips to Alaska to visit her brother Jim, taking a cruise to Alaska, and visiting her daughter, Wendy in Washington DC.
Above all, Pat will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to family. Her laughter, generosity, and straightforward advice as the "oldest sister" will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. Though she may be gone, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.
In lieu of formal goodbyes, let us celebrate Pat's life and the indelible mark she left on each of us. Though she may no longer walk among us, her memory will forever light our way.
A celebration of a life well-lived for Pat will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Louise Parish, 141 156th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98007, followed by a reception at 12:00 PM.
