Hospital on Friday, November 26, 2021 after succumbing to injuries from a car accident. She was
born to Charles and Aloysia Volpert on June 25, 1946 at St. Mary’s Hospital in East St. Louis, IL.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James D. Ganey; her parents, Charles H.
Volpert and Aloysia R. Volpert (nee Haas); son, David C. Ganey; brother, Charles R.
Volpert; sisters-in-law, Grace Volpert and Alice McPherson; brothers-in-law, Robert
Ganey and Roy McPherson.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving children, Susan Ganey, Patrick (Kelly) Ganey,
Carol Ganey, and Michael (Amanda) Ganey; grandchildren, Michael and Rylan Ganey; nieces and nephews, Chuck (Marlo) Volpert, Amy (Bruce) Rackers, Cathy (Joe) Houston, John (Debbie) McPherson, and Mikki McPherson, great nieces and nephews, in addition to numerous family and friends.
Judy graduated high school in 1964 from St. Teresa Academy. She later in life obtained an Associate Degree in Health Information Technology from Southwestern Illinois College. Anyone who knew Judy, knew she had a big heart and loved to laugh. She was a confidant to many and the life of the party. She loved to spend time with her family, socialize with friends, and volunteer in the community. She volunteered for many years with Compassionate Friends after the loss of her son and more recently at Family Hospice of Southern Illinois through the PSOP program. Judy was a member of the St. Clair County Women’s Club and St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church. As an honorary Irish woman, her favorite holiday was St. Patrick ’s Day. She was of deep faith, fun, intelligent, incredibly kind, loving and charitable. Judy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation: Guests may visit from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Valhalla Gaerdner
Holten Funeral Home in Belleville, IL. A second visitation will take place the next day at church from 10-
11 AM immediately preceding the funeral mass.
Funeral: A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 AM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at
St. Augustine of Canterbury in Belleville, IL with one hour of visitation beforehand. Interment
will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
