Frank was born on September 22, 1941 in East St. Louis, IL, to his beloved mother Bernice Philomena (née Zelechowska) and father Franciszek Magiera, and was the younger brother of his devoted sister Joan Christine (née Magiera) Kroupa, all of whom he now joins to honor the Lord in Heaven. Frank is survived by nephew Jan (Evelyn) Kroupa, niece Julie (Scott) Keim nee’ Kroupa, his protege great nephew Nathan Keim, and great nieces Audrey and Paige Keim. He is also survived and preceded in death by beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Frank dedicated his life to giving, education, and the study of finance. He earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering from St. Louis University due to receiving a scholarship that he felt changed his life and dedicated much of his life to extending similar opportunities to others. He went on to receive a Ph.D. in Finance from Michigan State University, worked as a Professor of Finance, and developed curriculum and graded exams for the CFA Institute. Frank had a great passion for giving, education, and investing, and used the fruits of his financial acumen to support a wide range of charities, chief among them Parks College at St. Louis University.
Frank loved to travel, visiting Poland, Costa Rica, and Spain, along with regular trips to St. Louis, Virginia, San Diego, Colorado, and Wyoming to visit family, friends, and conferences. We will dearly miss the tell-it-as-he-sees-it attitude, sharp sense of humor and genuine kindness that made him a great conversationalist.
The service will be held at St John Vianney Church in Avondale, AZ on Friday, September 27 at 2:30 PM. Guests are invited to join the family for dinner following the service.
Frank will be laid to rest at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL. The committal service will be held at graveside on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
In honoring Frank’s legacy of generosity, we ask those who wish to donate in his memory to support his alma mater, Parks College at St. Louis University, in his name, care of Andrea Etling, 3450 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63103.
