Charlotte was born on May 20, 1928, in Belleville, Illinois to Joseph and Mabel (Burns) Lessen.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Carl E. Hammel, whom she married April 19, 1947, daughter, Barbara A. Reinhardt, granddaughter, Tammy R. Hardy, and sister, Billie J. Blim.
Surviving her are son, Steven Hammel; grandchildren, Keri Mueller of Naples, Florida, Kelly (Andy) Murrie of St. Louis, Missouri, and Lauren (Mark) Eilers of Highland, Illinois; great grandchildren, Daphne and Luca Mueller, William and Anna Murrie, Maebry, Leo and Mack Eilers, and a sister, Margaret Erwin of Waterloo, Illinois.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois, with chapel conclusion at 6:00 pm.
Interment will be private at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
