Betty was a member of the New Athens First Baptist Church. She worked as an antique dealer and had her own shop. In addition to her career in antiques, she enjoyed painting, renovating, gardening, and music. She excelled at floral arrangements, she was a great seamstress, and she was always willing to help with school plays. Her legacy will continue in the lives of everyone she inspired by her works.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lola Dovie (nee Davis) Brockwell; husband Roy V. Rowlan whom she married July 1, 1944; daughters, Judy Kiske; Donna Alton; brothers, Willis Lee Brockwell; Elvis Brockwell; Roy Thomas Brockwell; sisters, Sara McKenna; Joyce Richter and Garnet Bentley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Renae Rowlan (Greg Eddings); grandchildren, Jennifer Kiske; Joey Kiske; Roger Grimming; brothers, Charles Brockwell; Ronnie Brockwell; sister, Janice Meyer; niece, Dianna (Tony) Savoia; and many nephews, nieces and distant relatives.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to both the staff and residents of New Athens for the Aged for their love, care and support.
Memorial donations in Betty’s honor may be made to New Athens Home for the Aged, 203 S. Johnson St. New Athens, IL 62264.
Friends may gather with the family from 9 until 11 Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home. The funeral service will start at 11:00 with the committal following at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
