Allen Lee Taylor

Allen married the love of his life, Nancy, on June 29, 1957 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Belleville, IL, and together they had three children. Allen worked as an assistant manager at Wessels for 30+ years, then as a custodian for Belleville School District 118. When he wasn’t busy working, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, traveling and camping, but above all else, he treasured spending time with his family. He was an extremely proud Pop and dutifully went to his grandkids’ sporting events, band concerts, and dance recitals. Allen was an incredibly kind, hardworking, and loving man who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Taylor, Sr. and Margaret (nee Schifferdecker) Taylor; brother, Joseph Taylor, Jr., and sister, Jean Heepke.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 66 years, Nancy (nee Rohn) Taylor; daughters, Lana (James) Spargur and Lori Taylor; son, Wayne (Jeannine) Taylor; grandchildren, Allen (Jennifer) Spargur, Aaron (Erin) Spargur, Sidnie (Kyra Jordan) Spargur, Emily Taylor, and Cole Taylor; great-grandchildren, James Spargur and Isla Spargur; plus numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A visitation for Allen will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
