Ruby Struwe Luedemann passed gently into the presence of the Lord on January 20th, 2023. She was born on April 29th, 1919 to William Rorbert Struwe and Bertha Spiering Struwe in Washington County, Texas. She was raised in Brenham, Texas and was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Ruby attended Blinn College in Brenham and after moving to Houston, attended the University of Houston. Ruby was married to Raymond Lewis Luedemann for 13 years.
During World War II, Ruby was employed by Todd Houston Ship Building. While there, she had the honor of christening the liberty ship SS John Ireland.
Ruby has been a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, Texas for over 60 years. She was very active, taking part in Sunday School and Bible Studies. At one time, she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the prayer team and most recently was a participant in the Rebecca-Ruth Study Circle. Ruby was very active outside of her church activities. She volunteered at MD Anderson and was a Patron of The Junior League of Houston. She loved playing bridge and giving dinner parties. She was an amazing cook and gracious hostess!
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, William Robert Struwe and Bertha Spiering Struwe, her sister, Ruth Schoenemann and brother-in-law Burford Schoenemann; sister, Bertha Mae Castleberry and brother-in-law Marce Castleberry; and her brother, Walter Edward Struwe. She was also preceded in death by her niece, Suzanne Johnson and her husband Dr. Edward Johnson; her niece Diane Moore, nephew, Gary Schoenemann, nephew, Eugene Struwe, niece, Tina Jones, nephew, John Struwe, great-nephew, Thomas Scott Moore and her special friend, Ed Hilla.
Ruby is survived by her nephew, Larry Schoenemann and his wife, Corliss of Harlingen, niece, Marilyn Domingue and husband, Mark of Bellaire; and many other wonderful great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ruby, with a servant's heart, always thought of others first. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt and friend. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her will miss her tremendously.

Funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28th, 2023.
