Nason Mark Feldman was born in Texas City, Texas on July 7, 1954. He attended Westbury High School and then graduated with a BA from The University of Texas at Austin. He was an active member of Zeta Beta Tau. Nason married Sheri Helfman on November 22, 1981. It was a very brief courtship as they both knew right away they were meant for each other, and their love affair lasted over 30 years. Nason left the exciting world of investment banking to begin his career in the automobile business. He began his new vocation working at River Oaks Chrysler Plymouth alongside his father-in-law, Jack S. Helfman, and brother-in-law, Alan Helfman. The opportunity to branch out and start a new dealership was a challenge he embraced. That was the beginning of Helfman Ford, a dealership he led for over 28 years.More than Nason’s love for the car business was his love for his wife and children. First came Jason and then Lacey. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments every day of his life. He was truly honored when Jason chose to follow him into the business. He was exuberant when Lacey graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia and came home to begin her career in education. Another highlight of Nason’s life was when Jason introduced Rori to the family. He was thrilled when Jason asked Rori to be his bride.Nason is also survived by his devoted mother, Shirle Nathan, and the late Herman Nathan, and his father, Jerome Feldman, his wife, Susan, and their children. He also leaves his devoted Aunts and Uncles, Neidra and Michael Davis and their daughter Jillian, Tammi and Bob Altshuler and their daughter Lainie.
Being an adored family man, he is especially loved by his mother-in-law, Elaine, and the late Jack Helfman. They treated him like a son. He is also survived by Sheri’s siblings, Sandi Wolf and her husband Steven, and Alan Helfman and his wife Renee. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews: Blake Helfman, Ashley Wolf, Eric Helfman, Cameron Wolf, Caitlin Helfman, and Samantha Wolf. Other loving family members include Marti and Bill Helfman and their children and grandchildren, and Sallye and Carl Waldman and their children and grandchildren. Nason worked hard and smart. His unique attention to detail and sense of caring earned him the respect of his employees, his customers, and his industry colleagues. Countless employees served with him for decades at the dealership, a fact he saw as one of his greatest achievements. A very special person in Nason’s life is his loyal and talented General Manager, Jeff Smith. Nason received many awards and recognition both for his business success and philanthropic contributions. He was deeply honored and especially prideful when he served as President of the Houston Automobile Dealers’ Association.Instrumental in providing Nason’s dedicated care was his team of medical doctors.
