She was a proud, fourth generation, native Houstonian of Houston, Texas.
A 1943 graduate of Incarnate Word Academy, she worked summers during World War II for National Instrument as a Prism Inspector. Following high school graduation, she studied Accounting and Business Law at South Texas College. She was also an alumnus of Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas. From 1944 until retirement, she worked as Treasurer, Vice President and Director of Hahn & Clay, a family-owned corporation.
She is survived by her son, Donald Edward Simms and his wife, Deborah McCown, of Houston and Flynn, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Dr. Angela Sheppard, MD of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas and Dr. Donald Maloney, MD as well as the staff of DaVita PDS South Dialysis Center for their professionalism and loving care of Mary over the many years of her life.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2019 with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1505 Kane St., Houston, TX 77007. Rite of Committal will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
