JOHN HAYNE SHINGLE, Born October 12, 1921, in Hamilton, Texas, and died Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013. Married to Ruth Shingle for 67 years, and had three daughters, Nancy, Betty (deceased), and Dotti, one grandson, Scott, and three great grandchildren. Upon graduation from University of Texas with a degree in Civil Engineering, he worked for Humble Pipeline. Among his projects were the Atchafalaya River Project, and the feasibility study for the Trans Alaska Pipeline, which became the Alyeska. After retiring from Exxon, he spent a number of years volunteering with Baptist Mission Center as a bookkeeper, and Sunshine Resale. He then became "The Fan Man" with an area wide reputation for repairing and restoring antique fans. He loved murder mysteries and westerns, reading both voraciously. He was a lifelong inveterate tease. He will be missed.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, TX.
