John spent his formative years in Nebraska. When he turned 21, he got on a motorcycle and moved to Texas. John had an incredible work ethic and began his 33 year career at the Baytown facility of Exxon in 1980 as a mechanical craftsman, he later worked as a crane operator and an Exxon-Mobil volunteer firefighter until he retired in 2013. In 2017, John got the the work bug again and returned to work life as a courier for Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. John was a godly man of deep faith who will be remembered for his selfless and humble nature, and his calm and considerate demeanor. A great sportsman, he loved all of God’s creation and enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycles. John was a true history buff who loved reading and his favorite book was The Bible. When in conversation, John was fully engaged as if you were the only one in the room. He will be missed for his “Johnisms” like “Endeavoring to Persevere,” “Pleased to be here,” or “Thank you for that timely advice.” One of the fondest memories of John is that everywhere he went in the world he searched for the perfect postcard to write and immediately send to his mother.
In 2006, John was introduced to the love of his life, Mary Kuskowski by two co-conspirators, John’s cousin, Jim Bruce and Mary’s friend Paula Smith. After a brief ten year courtship, John proposed to Mary in front of the Waterwall in the Houston Galleria, and they were married on September 3rd, 2016.
John is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jeffrey. His loving family includes his wife, Mary Anderson; daughter, Katherine Anderson (Marcos Lemke); and their children, Luke and Ella; siblings, Jean Starr (Fred) of Brighton, CO, Jerry Anderson of Anchorage, AK, Jewell Anderson (Linda) of Sonoita, AZ, James Anderson (Michelle) Albine, France, Jason Anderson (Vivian) Plato, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
