James Gibson

James Gibson of Houston Texas passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023 at the age of 91. James was born on June 20, 1932 in Houston, Texas, to Patrick and Ethel Gibson. He was the 2nd child out of 5 children. He married his sweetheart Billie Ruth Gibson and were married for 71 years. They happily raised 4 children where they resided in Houston, Texas.

James went to work at Southern Pacific Railroad at young age where he became very successful in his long career at the railroad and eventually retired.

During his retirement years James spent time enjoying life in Wimberley with Billie (or his BR as he commonly called her), traveling, watching and discussing his beloved Houston Astros. Go Stros!!

James is survived by his wife Billie Gibson, daughter Jeannette Smith, son-in- law Steve of Lahaina, HI, daughter Deborah Gibson of West Monroe, LA, daughter Mary Ruth Gibson Fite, son-in-law William of Houston, TX; Sisters Patricia Huebner, Gloria Hart, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.

James is preceded in death by, parents Patrick and Ethel Gibson, sons Thomas Patrick, Daniel, Richard and Brothers William (Bill) Gibson, John Gibson.

Services include a visitation from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Monday, September 11 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass is scheduled on Tuesday, September 12 at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with a reception following mass, concluding with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
