Gregg Sanders Lane, born October 10, 1959 in Jericho, Long Island, NY, passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of November 30, 2017. He was 58 years old. Boisterous and full of life, Gregg never met a stranger that he wouldn't call a friend. It didn't matter if you were his relative or the current postal worker- he would lend an ear, a car or the shirt off his back without hesitation or reciprocation.
When it came to being kind, Gregg always had an open mind and an open heart. In fact, it was his heart that originally captivated his wife, Melaudy Stavinoha, of El Campo, Texas, in 1986. They married two years later and made a home within the town of Katy, Texas. The two shared what friends referred to as a "once in a lifetime love," that was only enrinched by the birth of their daughter and one and only "Princess", Sydney Nicole Lane.
Gregg was first and foremost a family man, but he was also a rare combination of a New Yorker and a Texan: he knew how to live life to the fullest, but also knew when to step back and enjoy the simple things. If he wasn't riding his motorcycle across the far reaches of the country, you could find him in his own backyard watering his collection of assorted potted plants. Gregg appreciated beauty of rare knives and collecting watches. This rare outlook on life kept him in touch with his core values of truth, freedom, beauty, and love.
Gregg is survived by his loving wife, Melaudy Stavinoha Lane, their adored daughter, Sydney Nicole Lane, his sister Valerie Lane and her daughter Lauren Ettinger, his brother Richard Sanders and his wife Mary Jo and their daughter Callie, along with his Uncle Jay Sanders and his wife Risa, and many loving cousins. Gregg is preceded in death by his father Stuart Gilbert Lane, his mother Loretta Lane, his step-mother Betty Lane and his grandparents Sally and Henry Levy, and Esther and Bernard Sanders, as well as his nephew Jarett Ettinger.
Gregg was not shy to life and wanted his loved ones to celebrate his time lived. His family will be welcoming friends and guests at his celebration of life, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Memoial Oaks Funeral Home 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
