On March 11th, Patricia Ann (Keane) McGrath passed away peacefully while in the care of the Gilchrist Hospice Care facility of Towson, MD. Her last days were spent comfortably in the company of both her husband and all of her children.
Patricia “Pat” was born and raised in NYC, to Thomas and Mary (Convey) Keane of County Mayo, Ireland. She was educated in the parochial school system of NYC, and took particular pride in the progressive education that she received from the Dominican order of nuns while attending Corpus Christi School. Pat worked for Metropolitan Insurance Co. after graduation. After raising her family, she later returned to work and retired from Harford Mutual Insurance Co. of Bel Air, MD.
A skilled shopper and a voracious reader, Pat also enjoyed Irish culture and spending time, with her family. She had been a longtime parishioner of St. Ignatius Church of Forest Hill, MD.
Pat is survived by her husband of 59 years, James McGrath, currently of Glen Arm, MD., a daughter Deirdre (McGrath) and husband, Chad Gettier, of Pylesville, MD. Her sons- James McGrath and his wife Martha of Roswell, GA, Thomas McGrath of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Kenneth McGrath and his wife Rochelle of Bel Air, MD., daughter Megan Tegeler of Bel Air, MD, sons Neal McGrath and his fiancé Kelli Barnes of Eugene, Oregon, and Brian McGrath and his wife Lisa of Milton, GA.
Grandchildren, Sierra Gettier, Liam Gettier, Claire McGrath, Kyle McGrath and his wife Ashley, Brianna (McGrath) Velazquez and her husband Jorge, Erin McGrath, Jeffrey, Conner, and Lauren Tegeler.
Lily and Gabby McGrath and 4 great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Mary Margaret "Peggy" (nee Keane) Flammer of Closter, NJ and the late Eileen (Keane) Cassidy of Pearl River, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air on Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 am at St. Ignatius Church (Hickory). Interment St. Ignatius Church Cemetery.
