Dorothy Lucille Martin

Dorothy Lucille Martin (nee Little), 90, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2016. Born December 3, 1925 in Orlando, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Gertrude Little. Raised in Bel Air, Maryland, Dorothy attended Bel Air High School and graduated in 1942. She continued her education at Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1947. During her nursing career she made a trip to Tacoma, Washington to work at the US Cushman Indian Hospital. It was there where she met and later married her husband Robert in 1950. After starting a family in Baltimore, she retired from being a nurse and gave all her love and attention to her children and family. She loved to travel with Robert and her family, enjoyed flower arranging with her garden club, and knitting sweaters and afghans. Dorothy and Robert loved to entertain and she was a great hostess. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert E. Martin, MD; devoted mother of David Martin, Dori (Scott) Dowdell, Kathleen “Kadi” Martin, and Jennifer (Robert) Reath; loving grandmother of Lauralee Martin, Max Phelps, Abby Phelps, Anthony Falcone, Jonathan and Jeremy Falcone, Maggie Reath, and Kacy Reath; cherished great-grandmother of Ares Lemaster. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Dr. Glenn Little, Jr. DDS, her twin sister Doris Carpenter, and granddaughter Carly Phelps.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, on Saturday May 14th for visitation with the family at 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:30. Entombment will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
