Ronnie was a 1972 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, a certified welder, and CDL driver. He was a coal miner for 20 years and a member of UMWA local union #17.
Ronnie loved his family and friends, gardening and maintaining his yard, riding Harleys, spending time at his camp on the Greenbrier River and anywhere he could strike a deal or bargain. He frequented flea markets and spent countless hours on Facebook Marketplace. Ronnie was known to be straight forward and sugar-coated nothing, those who knew him, knew where they stood.
Ronnie will be reunited with his parents, grandparents, Jesse and Mary Hodges, and his baby sister, Glory Ann.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Penney Burleson, daughter, Jennifer and husband Joel Hosch, grandsons, Parker Hosch and Preston Hosch, sister, Debbie and husband Rodney Bentley, Favorite Uncle, John and wife Melba Burleson, niece, Randi and husband David Mocnik, great nephew, Micah Mocnik, his best friend, Gary and wife Lynn Boyd, a special friend, Ronnie Meadows and wife Sharon, Jeff Vanover, and a host of special nieces, nephews, many friends and along with two special pets, Sweetie Pie his cat and Harley his dog.
His services will be Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1 PM with Pastor Hibbard Hatfield and Pastor Eddie Day officiating at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will begin receiving visitors at 11 AM until the time of the service. Please feel free to dress in your favorite Harley shirt or what you felt most comfortable wearing around Ronnie. He will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the services. Pallbearers will be Gary Boyd, Joel Hosch, Parker Hosch, Preston Hosch, David Mocnik, and Garland Ward Jr. A very special thank you to the wonderful care that was given by Bowers Hospice House, and in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Bowers Hospice House in remembrance of Ronnie. Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley, W.V. is honored to be serving the Burleson family.
