Okey Ervin “Roochie” Pettry, 93, of Colcord, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Born February 18, 1928 in Colcord; he was the son of the late Paul K. Pettry and Leva Rickman.
Okey loved gardening and was blessed with a “green thumb”, building things, he was a excellent carpenter, loved traveling and finding places to eat. He was a member of the Colcord Presbyterian Church; the former owner and operator of Okey’s Amoco and was a coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Thelma Lee Pettry; a son, David Pettry; and numerous siblings.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving daughters, Susan Mollohan and husband, Jerry of Dorothy and Gina Marshall and husband, Joe of Daniels; daughter-in-law, Drema Pettry of Kingsland, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Mollohan and wife, Crystal of Ashford, Tara Bowne of Whitesville, Cavin Mollohan and wife, Carla of Bolt, Amber Harper and husband, Kevin of Greenville, WV, Jantzen Marshall and fiancée Ginny of Beckley, and Aaron Pettry and wife, Ronie of Kingsland, GA; great grandchildren, Jacob, Emily, Charlie, Angelica, Ethan, Annaleigh, Makenna, Seth, Ryan, Katie, Emma, Kaylee, Kaleb, Emma, Lara, Koley, Jevin, Caimen; special friend, Stephen Bowne, who was part of his family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Okey Ervin “Roochie” Pettry will be held 1:00PM, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley with Rev. Jerry Pauley officiating. Following the services, he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Thelma. Family will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 11:00AM until 12:45PM Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
