Mary Lee Wooten

Mary Lee Bianco Wooten, born at home February 12, 1938, in Harvey WV was the daughter of the late Luis Giuseppe and Elsie Mae Muncy Bianco. Mary was preceded in death by a Sister Dora Aileen Parsley Hall; a Brother Joseph David Bianco; a Brother-in-Law James Hatcher Sr. and a Son-in-Law Stewart Stover.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Louis Edmund Wooten (Anita Carol Bennett Wooten); Grandchildren: Andrea Sheree Wooten (Pudder)Thompson,(John David Thompson), Stacie Sherelle Wooten McEwan,(Hunter Wilson McEwan), Shelly Lynette Wooten Smith, (Joshua Irving Smith), Alexandrea Nicole Grace Wooten; and Great Grandchildren: Brooke Elizabeth Pudder Sedrak,(Sameh Sedrak), Marvin Ray Pudder II,Bennett Amarintha McEwan,Finnley James Edmund McEwan,Rowan Louise Hunter McEwan,Louis Kincaid Walker McEwan,McKinley Alara Smith, McKenna Adelaide Smith; Her Son Daniel Lee Wooten, Jr. (Gabriele Maria Wagner Wooten); Grandchildren; Danielle Harumi Wooten Vargas (Jose Vargas), Nina Maria Wooten, Lisa Sofie Wooten, and Great Grandchildren: Mateo David Vargas, Isabella Joann Vargas; Her Daughter Cynthia Louise Wooten Trevino (Wally Trevino, Jr.); Grandchildren: Bianca Marie Trevino McGhee (Michael Greg McGhee), Wally Trevino, III (Nicole Celine Brown Trevino); and Great Grandchildren: Sofia Marietta McGhee,Jameson Michael McGhee, Eliana Louise McGhee, Mia Adelaide Trevino, Wally Trevino, IV, Luna Arabella Trevino; Her Daughter Teresa Lynn Wooten (Dougherty) Stover; Grandchildren: Heather Dawn Dougherty Meadows (Andrew Dale Meadows), Joshua Richard Dougherty (Erin Marie Shepherd Dougherty), Adam Clay Dougherty (Erica Nicole Fenton Dougherty); and Great Grandchildren: Olivia Dawn Meadows, Thea Drew Meadows, Jaxon Cooper Horton, Brantley Alexander Dougherty, Annabelle Grace Dougherty, Henleigh Cay Canterbury, Kayleigh Marie Dougherty, Clayton Alastair Dougherty, Rhema Esther Dougherty; Her sister Myrtle Parsley Hatcher; Sister-in-Law Evelyn (Peggy) Bianco and a Host of nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

Mary graduated nursing school in 1973 as a registered nurse working at several hospitals including the VA. She retired from Raleigh General Hospital in 2004 after thirty one years of nursing. Mary held numerous nursing, and administrative roles throughout her long and notable career. She was a nursing instructor at both a local college, as well as a county vocational school.

In addition to nursing, Mary often gave of her time as an advisor and volunteer at various mental health facilities in the community.

Mary was a first-generation Italian immigrant who loved her heritage. She embodied the diligent work ethics instilled in her by her parents. Fond memories of her kitchen that was always full of family gathered around counters and tables will live on in the lives of all who knew her. Mary was always willing to share her family’s secrets to unforgettable pepperoni rolls, lasagna, spaghetti and much more!

Laughter rang out often and love filled the rooms of her home for her family but most especially for God. She gave her heart to the Lord in 1968 and instilled his word in her heart for all her days.

Mary’s legacy is that of a life lived for Jesus, and seeking His Will with unwavering faith. Her Faith equipped her to stand in all seasons of life. The characteristics that God formed in her as he knitted her together in her mother’s womb allowed her to live a life full of resilience, determination, and compassion. Mary possessed a sweet spirit and a grit that complemented one another and helped her raise four children on her own.

The impact on her family’s generations will be forever known. Due to her ability to always put family first regardless of what that self-sacrifice looked like, and the boldness with which she served God and shared the gospel has left a remarkable impact on those who knew her. We could never capture in words how thankful we are for the amazing life she led and how she poured into the lives of all of her family and friends. Her life was inspirational and inspires us to commit to carrying that legacy on into our future generations. She showed us how to run the race well as we wait to see her again on Heaven’s shores.

Romans 15:4 (KJV): “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Mary Lee Bianco Wooten lived her life knowing where her hope and help came from. Reading scripture and hiding it away in her heart was her passion. Thank you Lord for the gift of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Funeral Services for Mary will be on Friday, October 18th at 1PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Wooten, Rev. Wally Trevino III, and Rev. Joshua Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Mary will be laid to rest after the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
