Born September 9, 1920 at McAlpin, WV, daughter of the late Frank and Annie Ledahawsky. Mary made her home in Sophia/Soak Creek all her adult life. She was known for her kind, caring, and giving nature and “tight hugs”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow, brother Steve and sisters Annie, Sophie and Margaret. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her son Billy Gene and son Anthony Glen of Silver Spring, MD, daughter Bonnie Lou, son Benny Glen and wife Sue and “adopted daughter” and best friend Katrina Forren, all of Beckley. Grandchildren are Bret Gavin and wife Lynette and new born baby Bronson Glenn, Andrea Mary, Barkley Galen and Ashley Marie. Sisters are Katy Bowman (very dear and close), Helen Tolley, and brothers Frank and Johnny Ledahawsky. Mary also had a loving and caring relationship with her sister-in-law Arminta Stevens and long-time neighbor Alberta Haga, as well as several nieces and nephews, and very special friend Donna.
Mary was a Christian for many years and very active member of the Sophia Free Will Baptist Church until mid 2009 when she was no longer able to attend and still inquired often about everyone. She loved her church, especially her Sunday School Class and working in the Ladies Auxiliary, and supported them faithfully with her time, attendance, and finances.
Mary’s love and dedication to her family, friends, and neighbors were always evident by her actions. Her interests were keeping a clean/neat house, cooking/baking, reading and word search puzzles. Much love to all from this precious lady.
