Born on July 20th, 1961, she was the daughter of the late James R. Shirley and Martha Ann Phipps Shirley.
Martha had spent her life doing what she loved, being a homemaker and a loving and supporting wife.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Welch, and attended for many years.
In addition to her parents, a sister, Dayle Ann Mullins Burge and a brother-in-law, Donald Burge, preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, John; a brother, Robert L. Shirley of Denver, NC; a sister-in-law, Toni L. Shirley of Denver NC; Nephews, Martin L. Shirley of Denver, NC, Zachary J. Shirley of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Sarah Bobbitt of Lamborghini, VA, Martha Katherine Burge Winegar of Kingsport, TN, and Anna Burge of Chuckey, TN.
There will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Martha on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 from 6PM to 8PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Raleigh County Humane Society or the McDowell County Humane Society.
