John Russell Fox Jr.

John R. Fox Jr, 88, of Beckley, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at home, surrounded by family. He was the son of the late John R. Fox Sr and Hazel Pletcher. Born February 18, 1928 in Summersville, West Virginia. John served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, VFW and American Legion Post 32. He retired after 20 years from Consolidated Coal Company and owned Fox Trucking Company where he was known as “Big John”. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kermit Fox; sisters, Della Trout, Jane Sparks and Barbara McQueen; grandsons, Brian J. Trump and Michael G. Rahall, III. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Eleanor of Beckley; son, John R. Fox III (Nikki) of Matthews, NC; daughters, Diane Kraus (Harry Hinney) of South Charleston, WV, Colleen Trump (Robert) of Stanfield, NC, Cathy Rahall of Monroe, NC and Dawn Pettry of Beckley; sister, Bernice King (Bill) of Zephyrhills, FL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may gather with the family Saturday, January 14, 2016 from 12-2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2pm, with Wesley Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations of sympathy be made to Beckley VA Medical Center, VFW, American Legion or Hospice of Southern WV.
