James Kermit Peters, age 79, of Beckley, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital. Born on June 1, 1940 in Naoma (Peach Tree), WV, he was the son of the late James Alfred Peters and Virginia Marie Bearfield Peters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Peters. He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Mary Jarrett Peters; sons, Ira F. Peters and his wife, Julie, and James A. Peters; granddaughter, Mary Kaitlyn Peters; and sisters, Phyllis Burnside and her husband, Carmel, Millie Morris and her husband, Robbie, Margaret Bailey and her husband, Jerry, and Christine Groves; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Peters loved race cars and had a passion for football. He worked in the coal industry for over 30 years and was known to have a “HEART OF GOLD.”
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Tammy Pettry officiating. Burial will be held in the Garden of the Last Supper in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
