Before living in New Richmond at the Wyoming Nursing and Rehab, she lived at Hotchkiss. She and her husband raised their family in Beechwood, West Virginia before moving to Hotchkiss.
She was born September 30, 1934, in Dott, West Virginia and was a devoted pastor’s wife and mother.
Helen was a member of the Hotchkiss Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Bible Baptist Church with her granddaughter Jenny. Once in the nursing home, many local churches ministered to her, whom the family would like to thank.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald Myrl Stover Sr.; daughter, Kimberly Sue; parents, William Andy and Macie Pearl Gray; brothers, Clinton and Howard; sisters, Louise Orren and Shelby Jean Gray.
Those left to cherish her memory include six children, Kenny Ray Stover, Brenda Elizabeth Stover, Sharon Kay (Kay Kay) and husband, Charlie Keaton, Donna Lynn and husband Robert Ward Jr., Becky Halsey and companion Herbert Balser, Donald Myrl Stover Jr. (DJ), and companion, April Barzee. Other survivors include Thomas Halsey, a brother Bobby Ray Gray and his wife Dorothy from Lima, Ohio, a brother-in-law Herbert Stover and wife Anne in Maryland, and a sister-in-law Reo Burnette in Princeton.
Her grandchildren were eight grandsons, Kenny Stover II and wife Rebecca, Daniel Stover, Kenton Stover, Lloyd Wolfe III and wife Julie, John Keaton and wife Melissa, Robert Ward III and wife Jennifer, Mark Ward and TJ Halsey. Five granddaughters, Jenny McGhee and husband Andy, Robyn Wilson and husband David, Amber Eitel and husband James, Emily Hatfield and Macie Elizabeth Stover. Great grandchildren, Kenny Stover III, Shaeley Stover, Jacob Stover, Adrianna Stover, Sunshine Stover, Caitlin Fisher, Seth Wolfe, Ian Wolfe, David Ray Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Carson Eitel, Bryant McGhee, Addyson McGhee, Brandyn McGhee, Nathan Powell, JJ Powell, Hunter Keaton, Faith Keaton, Memphis Keaton, Ashton Keaton, Brooke Ward and Bruce Hatfield.
Helen’s extended family are all the staff and physicians of Wyoming Nursing and rehab, the staff of the dialysis center in Oceana and associates of Dr. Suleiman, the Stat Ambulance employees, and the staff and associates of Dr. Herbert Oye. The family will never forget the love, care and respect of all these wonderful people. Mere words cannot describe their dedication to Helen’s care.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11 am with Brother Thomas Anderson and Brother Thomas Shepherd officiating and burial to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia. Robert Ward Sr. will do a reading on Helen’s life with Alzheimer’s. Her granddaughter Jenny will provide the music. Her grandson’s will be pallbearers and her great grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
