Gary Ritter

Born on January,13th, 1949, he was the son of the late John Ritter, and Hilda Higginbotham.

Gary worked for many years as a coal miner, and a Fire Boss, which he enjoyed greatly.

A life punctuated by success, love and adventure, Gary enjoyed much in this life, with one of his most favorite things in the world, riding his 4-wheeler with his grandson Dustyn when he was little. Gary he was huge fan of WVU sports and loved watching movies with his grandson Michael. Above all, Gary always strove to make sure his family was provided for.

Gary was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Connie and Debbie; brothers, Ronnie and Roger; special cousins who were life brothers, David, Larry, Roger and Keith;a very special Aunt Wilda; a niece Renee Bessermen; and longtime friends, Harry Jones and Joe Fox.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra; a son, Shaun of Danese; a daughter, Tara Dodson Adkins (Danny) of Shady Spring, grandsons, Dustyn of Shady Spring, Michael of Shady Spring, Xavier Adkins of Rainelle; granddaughters Holly and Isabelle, both of S.C.; great-grandchildren, Ryden and Ryla of Beaver; a niece, Cassandra, a nephew, Shannon; a sister in law Jenny Morris; several special nieces and nephews and cousins; and special longtime friends, Harry, Bill, and Bernard; as well as his affectionate pets, Bart, Jewel, and Apollo.

He will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Gary will be in Wednesday, February 28th, at 2PM, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastors Gary Claypool and Joe Rozell officiating. There will be a visitation from 12PM - 2PM, all are welcome. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
