Alberta Dee Haga

Alberta Dee Akers Haga, 98, of Soak Creek died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born March 10, 1919 at Alum Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Virgie Snodgrass Akers of Alum Creek. Alberta was a member of Sophia Church of God, Sophia, WV. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Barney H. Haga; grandson, Stephen Rupe; brothers, Golden and Adair Akers; sisters, Orpha Higginbotham, Aileen Pauley, Nellie Parsons, Naomi Roberts, Nora Lipscomb and Eva Gragg. Surviviors include her children, Leslie W. Haga (Pauline) of Crab Orchard, WV, Nancy (Jack) Rupe of Locust Grove, GA, and Dennis (Joyce) Haga of Coal City, WV; grandchildren, Leslie (Sandy) Haga II of Lugoff, SC, Charles (Alice) Haga of Sophia, WV and Dustin Brooks of Denver, Co; great grandchildren, LeAnn and JT Haga of Lugoff, SC, Brian (Mindy) Haga of Shaw AFB, SC and Danielle and Brandon Haga of Sophia, WV; a host of nieces and nephews; her church family and Nancy’s God daughter, Michelle Goen. Family will receive friends from 12- 1pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family would also like to thank Bowers Hospice House and the nurses and special caregivers that she had while she was still at home and her Dr. Joseph Golden for his in home visits.
