Marjorie was born in Seattle, Washington, The only child of George & Sue (Bradt) Thompson. The family soon returned to Portland where she attended Chapman Elementary and Lincoln HS. Marjorie attended Washington State College where she met the love of her life Harry Russell. They married moved around with the Air Force until Harry was retired in 1950. They built their home in Raleigh Hills where she lived for over 60 years. Marjorie was very active as a volunteer for many organizations including, Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, her church and many more. She was very proud of her role as Co-Chair of the Governor Vic Atiyeh campaigns and as a docent at the Japanese Gardens.
Marjorie loved to travel and was able to visit all 50 states and over 50 countries on 6 continents. She was proud of the fact that she was 4th generation Oregonian and enjoyed researching her genealogy.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Harry and her eldest daughter Sue. She is survived by daughters Harriet Russell and Robin Sanchez (Richard), Grand-daughters Jeanne, Chrys, Sarah (Spencer) and Amanda (John). Great Grandchildren Jacob (Adrienne), Nicole, Alex (Samantha), Ellie, Frances and Mary. And Great Great Grandson Oliver.
In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity, West Portland Chapter or the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
