Carl M. Reding was born to Frank and Josephine in Tillamook, Oregon. He was the fourth of six children. His schooling was completed at Sacred Heart Catholic School. During high school he worked at the feed store and eventually started driving truck for the Tillamook Creamery. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a machinist. After he returned from Korea he met the love of his life at a Fairview Grange dance. Three years later Carl and Donna were married on October 13, 1956. They were blessed with 6 children, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He worked for 35 years at Consolidated Freightways as a mechanic. Carl was a longtime parishioner of St. Cecilia, St. Vincent de Paul volunteer for over 20 years and was a lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus. Being a volunteer firefighter was an important part of his community involvement in both Tillamook and Aloha. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. As a family they camped all over Oregon and especially enjoyed Wickiup Reservoir. Carl and Donna traveled to many National Parks across the U.S. and spent a few summers in Alaska visiting relatives. One of his favorite trips was to Europe where he went to Rome and to his parents homeland of Switzerland. During his visit he was able to meet some cousins and see where his mom and dad were raised. He was well loved and admired by many and we will greatly miss his infectious smile and sense of humor.
Carl is survived by his wife Donna Reding; children: Debra (Jim) Barnett, Karla (Jim) Wieskamp, Brian Reding, Jeff (Diane) Reding, Mark (LuAnn) Reding and Thomas (Shannon) Reding; sisters Margaret Sonderen and Jean Phillips, brothers Frank Reding and Joe (Emily) Reding; grandchildren Jennifer (T.R.)
