William Robert "Bobby" Jones, Jr., born on September 9, 1937, in Beaumont, TX, peacefully passed away on December 7, 2023. Born to William Robert Jones, Sr. and Lucy Rossi Jones, Bobby proudly served in the US Army and later attended Lamar State College. He dedicated a significant part of his life to Southern Pacific Railroad, leaving an indelible mark in his professional journey.
A longtime resident of Vidor, TX, Bobby was a devoted member of St. Jude Catholic Church, finding solace and community in his faith. His passion for railroads and love for music showcased his vibrant spirit, and his enthusiasm for family time was unparalleled.
After retiring, Bobby worked with Nutrition Services, contributing his time and energy to the well-being of others. In his younger days, he embraced the world of ham radio operation and had an enduring love for stereos. However, his greatest joy in life came from his grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart.
Bobby attended the Men's ACTS Retreat with St. Jude in February of 2016, an experience that profoundly changed his life and strengthened his connection to his faith. He had a keen eye for memories, cherishing every moment captured in photographs. Known for saving everyone's pictures off Facebook, he created a visual tapestry of the people he held dear.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucy Jones, his loving wife Peggy Ann McFarland Jones, his brother Ted Wayne Jones, and by his daughter-in-law Kristin Jones. He is survived by his sons, Michael Jones and wife Angela of Lumberton, TX, and James Jones; his daughter, Christiana Johnson of Beaumont; James Johnson of New Bern, NC, his grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Sydney Jones, Abigail Jones, Amanda Hale, Heather Jones, Rachel Spear, Jayme Bryant, and Candace Bryant-Lester; and his great-grandchildren, Noah Savoy, William Bryant, Skylar Klotz, Carson Klotz, Luke Hale, Logan Hale, Laney Spear.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 4955 Pine St, Beaumont, TX 77703. A funeral service will follow the next day at 10 am, and Bobby will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park following the services.
