In 1948, Fred proudly joined the Marine Corps as an infantryman and served his country with honor for two years before being honorably discharged on July 10, 1950. His dedication to service continued as he devoted 44 years of his life to the Beaumont Fire Department. Fred retired as an Assistant Fire Chief on August 31, 1995, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and commitment. His colleagues and the community will remember him for his unwavering love for his job and his dedication to serving others.
Fred was a resident of Beaumont, where he built a life filled with love and passion. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of football and baseball, with a special fondness for the Texas Rangers. Staying fit and active was important to him, and he enjoyed working out and bowling.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, William and Iona Carter, his beloved wife, and his daughter Pat White. He leaves behind his cherished daughter Pamela Susan Holmes and her husband Joe of Katy, TX, and his son Jeffery Scott Carter and his wife Kandie of Lumberton, and son-in-law Lynn White of Beaumont. Fred's legacy continues through his five stepchildren, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Fred Carter's life was a testament to dedication, love, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Fred's Life at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, to follow.
