Dr. Charles S. Brocato passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on August 19, 1938, to Sam Brocato, Sr. and Jhovita Estros Brocato. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1956 and attended Lamar University, receiving degrees in biology and mathematics, and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics. He also holds a Doctor of Divinity degree and was an author who wrote extensively in the fields of surviving chemical and biological warfare and nuclear warfare.
He was also a longtime martial arts instructor who pioneered karate and judo in the Golden Triangle area, beginning his Beaumont Karate & Judo Club while he was still in high school.
He was also a weapons/firearms instructor and a map & compass instructor, specializing in how to stay alive. He was also a nutritionist, a counselor in the field of nutrition at his health food store, and an award-winning French chef.
His earlier books are available on Amazon in print form. He also has written eight books so far in a series of Radiation titles he planned in the area of surviving a nuclear incident.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn King Brocato, and numerous cousins who are scattered throughout Southeast Texas.
A Celebration of Life service for Dr. Brocato will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
